形態特徵

• Evergreen shrubs; twigs and young twigs grayish brown, puberulous, ridged below petioles; Terminal buds small, ovoids with several scales, the scales puberulous.
• Leaves coriaceous, elliptic, 10–22 mm long, 7–12 mm wide, apex obtuse, base rounded or acute, margins slightly recurved, crenate, with teeth 2–3 mm apart, both surfaces glabrous, midrib impressed on upper surface, prominent on lower surface, nerves 4 or 5 pairs, often impressed on upper surface, slightly prominent on lower surface, petiole glabrous, 1–2 mm long.
• Flowers solitary in axils of leaves or up to 3 in a spikes, sessile; on axis with 4 or 5 sterile bracts, axis 2–3 mm long, pilose, bracts and bracteoles persistent, bracts orbicular to elliptic, apex rounded or slightly emarginate, sometimes split, glabrous or sparsely appressed hairy near tip, margin ciliate, 3–4 mm long, 3 mm wide, elliptic, glabrous or sparsely appressed hairy near tip, margin ciliate, 3–3.5 mm long, 1.5–2 mm wide, upper bracts and bracteoles with a few glands on margin at base of margin; calyx glabrous, tube 1.5–2 mm long, limb 2–3 mm long, lobes imbricate, ovate, ciliolate, 2–2.5 mm long, acute or obtuse at apex; corolla white, 6–7 mm long, deeply 5-lobed, lobes elliptic; disc shortly cylindrical or pulvinate, glabrous; style glabrous, 8–9 mm long; stamens 25–30, connate at the base; ovary 3-locular with 4 ovules 4 perin each locule.
• Fruits ovoid, crowned by persistent calyx lobes, 8–9 mm long excluding calyx lobes, ca. 7 mm in diam.; stone smooth, ovoid, 7 mm long, 5 mm in diam.; mesocarp thin, endocarp woody, seed 1, longitudinally curved with similarly curved embryo.
• Although this species has persistent bracts, its other characters suggest it is related to S. sumuntia and its allies (sect. Lodhra).

• 台灣 : 2,950–3,200 m altitude.
